Lending a Helping Hand: PC Hosts Neighborhood Market

This past week, the Jamison Stadium Parking Lot was filled with more than just the usual campus breeze—it was filled with community spirit as Porterville College hosted another Neighborhood Food Market, ensuring our students and community neighbors headed into the summer heat with full pantries.
The PC Financial Aid and Basic Needs teams were out in full force, trading their office desks for the pavement to coordinate another seamless distribution. Working alongside the Central California Food Bank, these dedicated staff members and volunteers spent the morning loading trunks and greeting families, proving once again that the heart of PC extends well beyond the classroom.
A Mission of Service
The Neighborhood Market is a vital monthly lifeline, providing a variety of fresh and shelf-stable food items to the community. By utilizing a drive-thru model, the program ensures that getting help is as accessible and efficient as possible for everyone involved.
The Giving Doesn't Stop for Summer
While the academic semester is winding down, the need for food security doesn't take a vacation. We are thrilled to announce that the market will continue to serve our community through the break! Keep an eye out on our website for upcoming dates.
Quick Tip: To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, please make sure your trunk or cargo area has plenty of space for the food items before you arrive!
We Need Your Help!
These events are a massive undertaking, and they wouldn't be possible without our incredible volunteers. Whether you are a student looking to give back or a staff member wanting to support the cause, we would love to have you on the team.
